Laser Hair Removal: Get the Facts on How Many Treatments It Takes for Optimal Results

Laser Hair Removal

Are you tired of shaving and waxing to get rid of unwanted body hair? These hair removal methods are time-consuming, painful, and altogether ineffective. In addition to these factors, shaving and waxing are also temporary. Hair grows back a few days after you shave, and waxing usually lasts a few weeks. There is a better way to remove hair! Here at Laser Aesthetics of Cape Cod, we offer laser hair removal services so you can enjoy hair-free skin for longer! We are here to provide the facts about laser hair removal so you can make an informed decision.

What Is Laser Hair Removal?

Many people know about laser hair removal but may not know how the treatment works and how long the results last. This revolutionary treatment offers permanent hair removal. This is ideal if you are tired of shaving and waxing. Laser hair removal is a non-surgical treatment that destroys the hair follicle at the root, preventing future regrowth. Additionally, laser hair removal is not limited to one area. It can treat a variety of areas of your body, big and small. Laser hair removal is ideal for small, intimate areas such as your armpits and face. It is also suitable for larger areas, such as your legs, back, stomach, and arms. We even offer bikini laser hair removal!

Laser Hair Removal Technology

We use two different types of laser hair removal treatments. We believe in investing in advanced technology to continue to provide high-quality treatments. That is why we use the Vectus Laser System and Cutera Nd: Yag.

The Vectus Laser System is a diode laser that can target your unwanted hair with precision without damaging the surrounding skin and tissue. This laser technology also has a Skintel melanin reader, allowing us to create customizable treatments for your skin type and tone. This makes laser hair removal more effective for more skin tones.

Cutera Nd: Yag is ideal for patients with darker skin. Having dark skin and dark hair may pose a challenge for laser hair removal. However, Cutera was designed to combat this obstacle. Cutera also offers less discomfort than many other laser hair removal methods.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Permanently Remove Hair?

The laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in your skin and heats the hair follicle. The heat from the laser destroys your hair follicle permanently. Thankfully, your hair won’t grow back once it is destroyed.

Your hair can only absorb laser energy when it is in a certain stage of its growth. We can only destroy the hair follicle when it is in the growing phase of its growth cycle. Your hair is constantly going through various phases simultaneously, so we have to wait until it reaches the growing stage to target it. For that reason, you need multiple treatments to effectively target all your hair for permanent hair removal.

How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatments Are Needed For Optimal Results?

While each patient is different, it takes about 6-8 sessions to remove hair permanently. It is also vital to leave at least 6 weeks between each session. This allows us to reach all your hair as it goes through the growing phase of its cycle. While this may seem like a lot, you can welcome hair-free skin once your treatment course is complete.

Each patient is different. You may need more than 8 sessions to achieve your desired results. However, laser hair removal is safe, so you can schedule more treatments if you are unsatisfied with the results.

There will be some regrowth between your session, but it will decrease with each laser hair removal treatment. Once your final session is complete, most of your hair will be gone for good. You may still see some regrowth after a while. However, this is usually very light and sparse. Many patients hardly notice it. When compared to shaving and waxing, laser hair removal stands out with its permanent results.

Laser Hair Removal Treatments

While laser hair removal is not incredibly painful, we can apply a topical numbing cream to prevent any discomfort. It may have a slight stinging sensation. However, laser hair removal is less painful than waxing.

This is a non-surgical treatment, so there is no downtime to worry about. You can go about your daily activities immediately after your laser hair removal session.

Laser hair removal sessions differ in their duration depending on the area being treated and the number of areas being treated. However, laser hair removal can save time in the long run, as you will no longer need to spend time shaving and waxing.
